‘Quiet on Set’ exposes Dan Schneider, sexism, racism and more

Things are not looking good for the American television producer and screenwriter Dan Schneider because of the alleged toxic environment he’s created for the staff at Nickelodeon, and “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV exposed every nook and cranny of it.

According to IMDB, Quiet on Set is a docu-series that uncovers the toxic culture behind some of the most iconic children’s shows of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

According to Business Insider, as Christy Stratton and Jenny Kilgen started working at Nickelodeon under Schneider for the Amadna show which ran from 199-2002, the two individuals became weary of him.

Stratton claimed that “Working for Dan was like being in an abusive relationship”. It first started when Christy and Jenny were told that they had to split their salaries which didn’t apply to their male colleagues. Despite claiming that they had fun working on the Amanda Show, the two individuals stated that Dan Schneider always said that women are incapable of being “funny or writing comedy”.

Additionally, Dan liked to keep the set “fun” by shouting slurs at staff and saying “dirty jokes”, as an example he would sometimes stream “Slut” out loud thinking that it would be “harmless fun” but ended up making quite the uncomfortable environment for staff, especially on a kids television set.

Stratton added that she “Felt that Dan could be very volatile and could turn any moment,” “I was scared. She added that the individual started doing massages on set making people “uncomfortable”.

Adding to the uncomfortable behavior on set, Kilgen claimed that Dan played pornography on his laptop screen and would always ask her for a massage in the writer’s room:

“Can you please give me a massage, I’ll put one of your sketches in the show, ” she said and if you disagree with Dan there is a possibility you’d get fired.
