Piers Morgan and Bassem Youssef are set to go for round two
British journalist Piers Morgan has announced that he is going to host Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef on his show ‘Piers Uncensored’ again, after the episode has achieved millions of views since it was first shown last Tuesday.
Morgan wrote on X platform: “UPDATE: 15 million views now for my interview with @Byoussef – making it the most-watched interview I’ve done since the launch of @PiersUncensored.”
British journalist Sameh Habib left a comment on Piers’s tweet asking him to host Bassem Youssef again. He wrote: “Why not a second show? but you give him more airtime and face to face @Byoussef Vs @PiersUncensored.”
And Piers Morgan answered him: “Yes, we are working on that.. watch this space.”
As for Bassem Youssef, he reposted Morgan’s tweet and wrote:
“Let’s have round 2 @piersmorgan. I truly enjoyed our conversation. Let’s have a one on one interview in the studio over coffee and without a faulty ear piece. Who could have imagined? Until last March I was blocked by you on Twitter (I deserved it). You were very gracious about it even though you discovered it a minute before we went on air. But since then we have had wonderful conversations. As I said: I HATE your views Piers. But talking to you is an absolute joy. Let’s do it again on @PiersUncensored
#Piers_vs_Bassem The Sequel. People of X. Retweet if you want to see this. Let’s have a “Halloween” themed episode.”
Bassem Youssef’s interview with Piers Morgan garnered great interaction on social media, and the Egyptian journalist received wide praise after using sarcasm to address the situation in the Gaza Strip.
The famous Saudi blogger Iyad Al-Hamoud wrote on the “X” platform:
“It may be the most beautiful 9 minutes I have watched since the beginning of the events.. the famous British broadcaster Piers Morgan’s interview with the Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef.”
Iyad added that in the interview, Bassem Youssef used the West’s logic in narrating the events, but in a sarcastic manner that made the veteran broadcaster confused about the situation and unable to keep up with the dialogue.
While Muhammad Fares Tammam wrote about the interview, saying: “If you want to know the impact of the word, you should watch this interview, which has exceeded 100 million views on various platforms,” referring to the huge amount of comments from Americans and Europeans whose opinions changed after watching the episode.
