Turkish actress Merve Kayaalp has committed suicide on September 18, 2023 at the age of 36.

Alirıza Kayaalp makes a statement

Alirıza Kayaalp, the grieving father of actress Merve Kayaalp, has given a heartbreaking statement to the police about the incident, revealing the reason behind his daughter taking her own life.

Merve Kayaalp’s dad said: “My daughter was a very emotional person. Unfortunately, she was psychologically unstable because she could not take part in projects. She chose the most painful one,”

He added: “I don’t know what to say. I still can’t believe what happened. My daughter was a very special person, she would help everyone. Now we have buried her. She applied to some projects, but did not receive a response. She was very depressed and her psychology was not good,”

Mr. Kayaalp continued: “But no one would believe that she would do such a thing. She did the most painful thing for us.”

How did Merve Kayaalp end her life?

On Monday night, September 18 2023, Merve Kayaalp was alone at her home in Dalaman district of Muğla, when she hit rock bottom and decided to end her life.

The actress committed suicide by taking a licensed gun belonging to her father, Alirıza Kayaalp, and shooting herself in the head.

Neighbors in the building located in Dalaman’s Gazi Boulevard heard gunshots coming from the second floor balcony, and immediately called the emergency number in Turkey, 112.

Emergency teams soon arrived to the shooting scene to check on the actress. It was determined that Merve Kayaalp had died. Kayaalp’s lifeless body was taken to Muğla Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue for autopsy.

Merve Kayaalp took part in several projects during her artistic life, such as ‘Sakarya Fırat’, ‘Küçük Kıyamet’, ‘Düşler ve Umutlar’, ‘Elif’, ‘Şeref Meselesi’ and ‘Savaşçı’.
