Pezeshkian says no negotiation on ballistic missiles

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian says no negotiations will take place on the country’s ballistic missiles.
President Donald Trump says there will be no further US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, insists Iran has agreed to allow nuclear inspections despite statements from Iranian officials that it has not done so.
Only one in four Americans think war on Iran was worth it: Poll
Just one in four Americans believes the war on Iran was worth its costs, and a majority worry that the ceasefire is unlikely to last, a Reuters/Ipsos poll has found.

The poll also showed the war weighing heavily on Trump’s popularity, with his approval rating dropping to 34 percent, a return to the lowest level of the Republican’s second term that was last touched in an April survey.

Only 23 percent of respondents think the US is now in a stronger position with Iran compared with its position before the war. Some 35 percent think it is in a weaker position.

Half of the respondents said the conflict was not worth it, and the rest were unsure.

Israel-Lebanon talks key to a US deal with Iran
The US recognises fully that the question of Israel and Lebanon is maybe not the deciding factor in finding a peaceful solution and a diplomatic off-ramp with Iran.

But it is a major issue. So, finding a peace deal with Iran absolutely hinges on what results between Israel and Lebanon.

The biggest sticking point here is Hezbollah. We’ve known from the start, since the first round of talks, that without the participation and input of Hezbollah, there’s no way to guarantee any sort of enforcement of any potential framework from these negotiations.

Discrepancies between US, Iranian statements on nuclear inspections
A few days ago, Vance said specifically that they had called the inspectors in early hours of the morning to set them up and become inspectors of Iran’s nuclear sites.

We’ve had Trump repeatedly posting in the last 48 hours that Iranians have agreed to weapons inspectors coming in to examine and monitor those sites. The Iranians say no, that is not the case.

Yet another discrepancy.

But Trump did say on the issue of inspectors, they will go in, in his words, at the appropriate time. Now, this is an important issue because these negotiations are scheduled to take place for 60 days. Within that time, the issues, like Iran’s nuclear programme, have got to be resolved.

Lebanese lawmakers announce UN team will document Israeli destruction
A “parliamentary commission for the protection of civilian property and the prevention of systematic destruction”, made up of three MPs, has announced the creation of a UN team tasked with organising meetings and field visits to document the “systematic destruction in south Lebanon since 2023″, according to Lebanese media.

L’Orient-Le Jour reported that the team formed after a request from the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights is expected to work for four months, according to MP Ashraf Baydoun, who spoke during a news conference held Tuesday in parliament.

Lebanon parliament speaker says 2024 agreement key to maintaining ceasefire
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, in a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, said the November 2024 truce agreement between Hezbollah and Israel offers a “ready opportunity” to stabilise the ongoing ceasefire, including mechanisms to monitor and address any violations, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) is reporting.

Over a period of more than a year following the November 2024 “ceasefire”, before hostilities broke out again on March 2, 2026, Israel continued carrying out intermittent, lower-intensity strikes on Lebanon that killed hundreds.

Berri, a powerful Shia politician who has, at times, played the role of intermediary between Hezbollah and the international community, stressed consolidating the ceasefire, Israel’s withdrawal to international borders, the deployment of the Lebanese army and the return of residents ahead of reconstruction.

Macron emphasised “Lebanon’s importance and the need to pay attention to its stability and sovereignty”, NNA added.
