Orlando Bloom gives a love-filled MTV VMAs speech before introducing Katy Perry by her birth name
The romance between Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry is so perfect it might be a teen movie.
On September 11, the hero of Pirates of the Caribbean was at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards to present his longtime collaborator with the Video Vanguard Award for her many memorable music videos.
During the performance in New York’s UBS Arena, Bloom introduced the newest Video Vanguard by mentioning the singer’s birth name, Katheryn Hudson, and then went on to say, “Katy Perry!”
“You fell in love with her as Katy Perry; I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson,” said the actor. “You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humor into every song she writes and every music video she creates.”
Bloom continued by praising the Grammy winner for being a wonderful mother to their daughter Daisy, who is four years old.
“I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same sense of love and joy to our family,” he said. She loves so deeply that it’s almost hard to refuse. Congratulations on your award, my darling. You have my utmost admiration.
Taking the stage after a medley of her many hits, including “Teenage Dream,” “E.T.,” “Dark Horse,” and “California Girls,” the 39-year-old received the prize in her trademark Katy Perry fashion.
“Thank you. I did that all on my first day of my period; can you believe it?” It was a quip, she said. From the very beginning, I am really grateful to MTV for embracing my eccentricity. For an artistic profession to endure and achieve success, numerous factors must come together. Accidents lasting decades do not happen.
She addressed her family and fans personally after expressing gratitude to her record company and management.
