Onion hospitalizes woman over a simple mistake

An onion recently made headlines after sending a woman to the emergency room by getting one of its roots stuck in her finger while she was preparing arroz caldo chicken soup. The issue at hand sparked widespread debate across social media about how an everyday meal preparation could lead to disaster.

A social media user wrote, “Imagine dying from grabbing an onion” while another added, “I’m here checking all my onions.”

One social media user in The Daily Mail comments section wrote, “Well that’s a new one. I’ve never heard of that before. I’ll have more respect for onions from now on. I always have a bag full but always throw away those on the turn!”

Disaster struck when the woman in question held an onion and got poked with one of its dry roots, leaving it stuck in her finger. She brushed it off and continued preparing the chicken soup. A day later, the situation took a horrible turn when the woman noticed redness traveling up her arm following swelling and pain.

She contacted Vital Urgent Care Service which recognized the severity of the issue at hand and diagnosed it as a “bad, advancing infection,” and that “whatever was on that onion “was bad,” the woman claimed in a post on Reddit.

The Vital Urgent Care Service advised the woman to get urgent care as soon as possible. She was later prescribed antibiotics and had the dry root removed. Additionally, the woman was also tested for blood cultures.

She added through Reddit that the soup was delicious despite undergoing a dangerous infection from a rotten onion.
