Moana 2 teaser becomes most viewed Disney trailer ever with 178 million views

 Looking at the views for their newest movie trailer, Disney seems to be heading towards some brighter times this winter. 

The Moana 2 teaser, which debuted on Wednesday, received an astounding 178 million views in just one day on the internet, making it the most-watched animated movie trailer in the studio’s history.

This astounding amount surpasses the previous records of 157 million views for Inside Out 2 and 116 million views for Frozen 2. With just 113 million views, even Pixar’s Incredibles 2 failed to ignite the internet.

The teaser for Moana 2, which debuted on Wednesday, has surpassed all of the studio’s previous animated film trailers with 178 million views in just 24 hours, suggesting that Disney will have a strong Thanksgiving box office showing.

That traffic easily surpasses the previous record holders, Inside Out 2 (157 MM) and Frozen 2 (116 MM). Also, at 113 MM, it is higher than Pixar’s Incredibles 2.

All of the views come straight from the internet, namely from platforms like Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Many people were gushing about the animation, the characters, and the original film. Audiences praised Moana as one of their favorite Disney characters of all time, while Maui and Pua stood out as well. Considering the project’s origins as a Disney+ series, the studio’s decision to adapt it to the big screen is commendable.

David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller are the directors and producers of the picture, which also features Yvett Merino and Christina Chen. Moana 2 showcases musical compositions by Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foaề, and Mark Mancina, who has won three Grammys.

The sequel follows Moana as she answers an unexpected summons from her navigational ancestors and sets sail toward the vast oceans of Oceania, where she will encounter perilous and long-lost waters on an adventure she has never faced before. Dwyane Johnson is back for his second stint as demigod Maui, while Auli’i Cravalho is in her element as the main character.

The fact that the 2016 film Moana was the most streamed movie of all time in 2023 (according to Nielsen) is evidence of how much people loved the tale and the characters in it.
