Meet the Saudi entrepreneur and her solution to the crypto boom-and-bust cycle
The cryptocurrency world is often marred by volatility and the collapse of unsustainable projects.
However, Quintes Protocol, founded by Saudi entrepreneur Rand al-Kharashi, is poised to break the boom-bust cycle and rewrite the rules of decentralized finance (DeFi) – a blockchain-based system that eliminates the need for traditional intermediaries like banks, enabling users to trade, borrow, and lend directly on secure, transparent platforms.
Quintes Protocol aims to ensure continuous asset growth and long-term value stability, backed by innovative engineering and now, a newly secured patent from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
A visionary approach to DeFi
The vision behind Quintes Protocol stems from al-Kharashi’s determination to address two core issues plaguing the crypto market: asset depreciation and unsustainable high yields, she told Al Arabiya English.
Asset depreciation occurs when a cryptocurrency loses value over time, often due to market fluctuations or oversupply.
Meanwhile, the issue of unsustainable high yields refers to exaggerated returns promised by certain projects to attract investors – frequently leading to collapse when these promises prove unachievable.
“DeFi, for me, is about breaking these mental constraints and creating opportunities that inspire and empower,” said al-Kharashi. “By solving real industry problems, I bring a perspective grounded in innovation and resilience.”
While many DeFi projects are based on speculation – where people often take risky bets in hopes of making profits – Quintes Protocol focuses on providing a more ethical and sustainable solution.
It aims to meet a big market need of about $350 billion for financial products that offer big returns, but that are also built on strong, reliable systems.
There was a “critical need for robust, sustainable mechanisms in DeFi — mechanisms that prioritize ethical design, scalability, and resilience against market fluctuations,” al-Kharashi added.
Quintes Protocol is designed to offer a stable and predictable alternative, according to the Saudi entrepreneur.
Instead of relying on risky or unpredictable models, Quintes Protocol uses detailed planning and solid, well-thought-out methods to make sure its value stays stable and grows steadily over time.
What makes Quintes unique?
Quintes stands out not just because of its technology but also its ability to offer sustained growth.
Traditional asset classes like stocks, gold, and Bitcoin have all experienced periods of significant growth, but none have consistently maintained high performance over extended periods, according to al-Kharashi.
“Stocks are susceptible to market cycles, gold serves more as a store of value, and Bitcoin’s volatility can be unpredictable,” she said.
“We’ve seen cryptocurrencies achieve great returns, but they’re often unstable. Growth bubbles burst, and value is lost. Quintes changes the game by creating a system where growth is sustainable and predictable.”
The protocol targets an 18-30 percent annual growth, even during market downturns, thanks to its rigorous research, over-collateralization, and advanced trading strategies.
Quintes selling point is that it uses an over-collateralization mechanism. Each QNT token – its primary token – is backed by double its value reserve assets, creating a safety net against market turbulence.
For example, if QNT is worth $1, it is supported by $2 in reserves such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), or stablecoins.
Quintes Protocol also employs cutting-edge technology, including autonomous arbitrage, which are automated tools that monitor multiple exchanges for price differences.
When they find discrepancies, the bots execute trades to profit from these gaps while stabilizing the token’s value.
“These bots correct market deviations, and collateral is further reinvested into proprietary high-frequency trading strategies, which boast a proven track record of delivering strong performance,” al-Kharashi said.
This combination of mechanisms ensures continuous growth and stability, even when market conditions are unfavorable, the entrepreneur explained.
‘A global solution’
Securing a global patent was a crucial step for positioning Quintes Protocol as a “global solution, unbound by geographical limits, and aimed at tackling critical global economic issues such as the lack of sustainable high yields and asset depreciation in the cryptocurrency space,” said al-Kharashi.
This patent validates Quintes Protocols’ innovation and ensures protection across multiple countries, laying a foundation for international expansion.
“By ensuring patent protection across multiple countries, this step lays a strong foundation for international expansion and builds trust with investors as Quintes continues its development, all while preparing for a future as an open-source platform,” she added.
A great stride for women
Securing a patent is also a great stride for women in male-dominated fields, according to the Quintes Protocol founder.
“As a Saudi woman, my journey in the global DeFi space has been shaped by a deep belief in the limitless potential of decentralized finance to transform industries. I realized that the only true limits are the ones we place on ourselves,” she said.
“Embracing the limitless opportunities in DeFi has fueled my determination to break barriers, show what’s possible, and help others unlock their potential too,” she said.
Her most important advice for young entrepreneurs, especially women, is to remain determined despite whatever challenges may come their way.
“Don’t be deterred by doubts or challenges in male-dominated sectors. Trust in your ability to innovate, take risks, and make a meaningful impact. In my journey, persistence, resilience, and collaboration with global experts have been key.
Focus on solving real-world problems, keep pushing your boundaries, and never underestimate your capacity to lead change in tech or finance. Innovation doesn’t know gender, only vision and action.”
The Future of Quintes
As Quintes gears up for its official launch in January 2025, it has already attracted significant interest.
“The investor response has been overwhelmingly positive, with growing interest from major funds. This confidence is fueled by Quintes’ robust infrastructure, patent-backed innovation, and our proven capacity to deliver results under all market conditions,” Quintes Protocol’s founder said.
According to her, the Quintes team will continue to seek strategic investors who will play a vital role in the protocol’s success.
“We prioritize investors who bring expertise, networks, and alignment with our goals over pure capital providers.”
For al-Kharashi, Quintes Protocol represents a bold new chapter in the world of decentralized finance.
“Quintes has just one destination—to pioneer the future of DeFi with unmatched growth, blazing the way for an exciting new world of cryptocurrency value.”
