More from the Qatari foreign minister in Davos
- For the first time, we see disagreement and controversy over the call for a ceasefire.
- After the 2014 war, we made many pledges for reconstruction, but few people truly contributed.
- Iran and the Gulf states are neighbors, and there is an understanding between the Gulf states on how to find common interests through dialogue and dealing with matters.

- What generation are we waiting for in the region and elsewhere, that sees the images coming from Gaza and the world’s silence about them?
- Everyone knows that the solution is in the two-state proposal, and we need a proposal that makes everyone obligated to that, especially any upcoming political leadership in Israel.
- Any disagreements between Palestinians are part of the political proposition and they are the ones who resolve them.
Elderly Gaza woman: ‘I will only return to my home’
Rasmiya Abu Shahma, 80, sits in a tent in southern Gaza after she fled her demolished home in Khan Younis.
She speaks of the biting weather that penetrates her temporary canvas walls. “We froze last night from the severe cold,” she says, her voice a mixture of resilience and despair.
The destruction that forced her displacement is a harrowing tale. “They told us our home was destroyed and there were many casualties,” Rasmiya recounts.
In a defiant refusal to be displaced further, she asserts: “We don’t want to migrate to Sinai in Egypt or anywhere else. I will only return to my home.”
As a child Rasmiya also endured the Nakba, or “catastrophe” of 1948. “We are steadfast and will remain so until death with the people, with Jerusalem, we stand with the resistance.”

At least 61,154 others have been wounded.
According to the ministry, Israeli forces committed “15 massacres against families” in the Gaza Strip, killing 158 and injuring 320 others during the past 24 hours.
