Madonna donates to support Morocco earthquake victims
The Queen of Pop Madonna has expressed her utmost solidarity with Morocco following the tragic earthquake that hit the Al Haouz region last week killing and injuring thousands of Moroccans.
The pop star took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her heartbreak over the horrifying tragedy that struck the North African country: “Morocco holds a special place in my heart, and the country has now experienced its most devastating earthquake in over 60 years. Today, I am donating to Human Appeal to support immediate, on-the-ground relief efforts in Morocco”.
The singer invited her fans and followers to help her make a difference by donating to relief efforts to help the impacted regions.
Madonna also had the opportunity to reflect on the priceless memories she has made during her visits to the country. Her strong attachment to Morocco was evident, as she had frequently expressed her admiration for the rich and diverse culture Morocco had to offer.
The devastating earthquake that struck central Morocco last week left a trail of devastation and had a profound impact on the lives and livelihoods of thousands of Moroccans.
According to the most recent Moroccan Ministry of Interior estimates, the accident killed almost 3,000 people and injured over 5,000 more.
Since the disaster, relief activities have been ongoing to assist earthquake victims and rehabilitate devastated areas. Several international institutions, including embassies and humanitarian organizations, have offered assistance to the relief operations.
A number of Arab celebrities have called their fans to join aid campaigns for victims in Morocco following the deadly earthquake that killed at least 2012 and injured over 2,059, many of them critically. Some of those celebrities include Mahmoud Nsr, Haya Maraachli and Haifa Wehbe.
