Lebanon-Israel talks end early ‘due to events on the ground,’ will resume tomorrow: US

State Department official says Lebanon-Israel talks ended early today “due to events on the ground, but will reconvene tomorrow morning,” adding that discussions focused on “a range of political and military issues and were extremely productive”

The US-led talks between Lebanon and Israel ended early “due to events on the ground,” a State Department official said .

The talks ended at 3:30 PM Rome time, which was earlier than expected. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they will reconvene on Thursday morning.

“Discussions focused on a range of political and military issues and were extremely productive,” the official said. “The technical teams made progress on determining key details on implementation of the Trilateral Framework.”

A senior State Department official previously said that there was “significant momentum” ahead of the talks, citing the successful launch of the first pilot zone in southern Lebanon and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s White House meeting with US President Donald Trump last month.
