Lamine Yamal sparks outrage after hiring dwarves for his birthday

Barcelona’s golden boy, Lamine Yamal, recently sparked outrage on social media after hiring professional dwarves to celebrate his 18th birthday.

According to Goal, the young Spanish footballer celebrated his 18th birthday alongside his friends and family during the weekend after reaching a new milestone in his life. Earlier this summer, Lamine Yamal signed a contract with Barcelona, extending his commitment to the renowned football club until the end of the 2030-31 season.

Reports reveal that Yamal’s got big boots to fill as he will bear Barcelona’s number 10 jersey, once worn by previous football legends like Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, and Ronaldinho, who played for the club.

Lamine Yamal sparks outrage after hiring dwarves for his birthday

Hiring professional dwarves as part of his birthday celebrations sparked widespread controversy, catching the eyes of organizations such as the Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias with Dwarfism (ADEE), which condemned the act.

Additionally, a member of the Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (COCEMFE) also slammed the Barcelona star.

In response to Yamal’s actions, ADEE is taking legal action against him. The organization deemed the issue at hand as “intolerable because it perpetuates stereotypes, fuels discrimination, and undermines the image and rights of those with achondroplasia or other skeletal dysplasia, as well as all people with disabilities.”

ADEE’s President, Carolina Puente, also made a statement touching on sensitive topics such as the use of dwarves for entertainment in private parties and the great damage it can cause if well-known figures like Lamine Yamal participate in it.
