Kate Winslet opens up about testosterone replacement therapy to boost Libido
Kate Winslet isn’t afraid to admit anything in her bedroom.
In an effort to increase her libido, the 48-year-old “Titanic” actress said that she had testosterone replacement treatment.
“Sometimes women have a real dip in libido because there might be stuff going on with their thyroid,” she remarked on Friday’s episode of the “How to Fail” podcast, while offering counsel to one listener who was wanting to overhaul their sex life.
Winslet, who wed Edward Abel Smith in 2012, went on to say, “A lot of people don’t know this, but women have testosterone in their bodies. When it depletes, it disappears, just like eggs do. And once it’s gone, you have to replace it. You can accomplish that, and you’ll experience a renewed sense of seduction.”
That “it’s not [her] fault” for the physical changes that women experience was another assurance the actress gave to the caller.
An aging body’s peculiarities become more apparent with time, she said.
She went on to warn the listener that her concerns about intimacy might be more than just a hormone low, and that she should “definitely” get her levels examined.
According to Winslet, there are several benefits to becoming older, even if women’s bodies will inevitably alter with time.
“I always tell my friends, ‘You look amazing; you look great.'” She said, “I think women, as they get older, get juicier and sexier and more embedded in their truth of who they are and more powerful, more able to walk through the world and care less, and that is an empowering thing.”
When asked about her thoughts on women’s beauty changing with age, she expressed a similar stance in an interview she gave to Harper’s Bazaar UK in September.
She told the magazine that as we age, our faces take on more character traits, accentuate our features, and contribute to our life experiences and memories.
