Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner officially finalize their divorce
Official divorce paperwork has been filed by Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, one year after the couple announced their breakup.
A court file that Good Morning America saw was dated September 6, 2024, and it states that the final verdict in the divorce case between the Jonas Brothers singer and the Game of Thrones actress was issued on that day.
There was a lack of information on the custody arrangement for the two children of the couple who had separated.
The couple had been married for four years when Jonas decided to end the marriage on September 5, 2023. He said in his divorce petition that the marriage had become “irretrievably broken.”
Their prenuptial agreement was exposed, and “shared parental responsibility” for their two girls was also sought in the case.
In a joint Instagram post after the couple’s divorce filing, they said, “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.”
“There are many stories of speculation about the reason, but this is truly a unified decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone will respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” according to them at the time.
As the couple worked through the legalities of their breakup in October 2023, they mediated and eventually came to a temporary custody arrangement for their two children.
After getting married in May 2019 in Sin City, Jonas and Turner had a second ceremony in France.
In 2020, they had their first daughter, and in 2022, they had their second.
