Israeli army says operating in al-Shati camp in Gaza, killed ‘numerous terrorists’
Israeli army said on Sunday its troops started operating in the al-Shati camp in the northern Gaza Strip over the past day during which soldiers killed “numerous terrorists” and uncovered a large number of “terrorist” infrastructure in the area.
“During one of the battles with the terrorists, [Israeli army] troops identified civilians who were located in a building in the area. The [Israeli army] secured an evacuation route for the civilians, and as the civilians were evacuating, terrorists fired at the troops from the outskirts of the area. In order to protect the evacuation route, [Israeli army] troops responded with light weapons fire and tanks to kill the terrorists,” Israel’s army said in a statement.
In another battle, the Israeli army “identified a terrorist cell barricaded inside a house in the area and posed a threat to the forces.” The Israeli army directed an aircraft and fired at the the “terrorists,” killing them. Additionally, “following an identification of an anti-tank missile launched from a weapons storage facility inside a building, a fighter jet struck the source of the fire.”
On Saturday, Israeli army troops operated in the northern Gaza Strip and identified “terrorists” in the vicinity. The Israeli forces directed a drone to the area and killed them.
Over the weekend, Palestinian officials said that fighting intensified near Gaza City’s overloaded hospitals.
“The Israeli military continues its relentless bombardment and military siege of the Al Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, amid warnings of an imminent humanitarian catastrophe in the complex where thousands of patients and wounded and displaced people are trapped,” state news agency WAFA reported on Sunday.
The Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, said on Saturday its fighters confronted troops of the Israeli army in the vicinity of al-Shifa hospital and the nearby Nasr neighborhood and al-Shati refugee camp, according to a statement on Telegram.
Meanwhile, Hamas’ armed wing al-Qassam Brigades’ fighters clashed with Israeli forces on the Nasr Street northeast of al-Shifa hospital on Friday.
