Is a Royal divorce looming?

Prince William shocks palace by hiring Princess Diana’s divorce lawyers—raising questions about royal family tensions.

The surprise decision that Prince William has made, which has “shocked” the palace, is that he has retained the divorce attorneys who represented his late mother, Princess Diana.

In accordance with a recent report, William is currently employed by the law firm Mishcon de Reya, and he has given them instructions to act on behalf of both himself and his family. Previously, he was represented by the legal team of King Charles, which was known as Harbottle & Lewis.

“William wanted to strike out on his own,” a source explained to the Daily Mail, which was the first to report this information. He did not wish to continue working with the attorneys that his father had hired. That is the simplest explanation. Being his own man is one of his goals.

The surprising step that William made is reportedly “the talk of legal circles,” and Buckingham Palace believes that it is “the latest example of his desire to follow a different path from that of his father.” According to a statement made to the Daily Mail by a friend of Prince William, “William wants to do things differently from his father, and he wants to be seen doing them differently.” This statement reinforces the previous claim.

To circle back around to the divorce that Princess Diana eventually obtained from King Charles, her legal team unquestionably came through for her. She was able to keep her residence at Kensington Palace; she was granted access to planes that are used by the royal family, and she was allowed to use the state apartments at St. James’s Palace for entertainment purposes as part of the settlement deal. Additionally, according to the New York Times, she was reportedly given a single sum payment of $22.5 million in cash, in addition to receiving $600,000 annually for her office.
