Iran says navy ‘alive and well’ after Trump’s claims

Iran’s navy is “alive and well”, navy commander Shahram Irani was quoted as saying by state broadcaster IRIB, after US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed all of Iran’s naval ships have been destroyed.
In a written statement, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has urged Muslim heads of state to “recognise their real enemy, understand its plans and confront it”.
Iran’s food supply stable despite logistical challenges, agriculture minister says
Iran’s agriculture minister says the country’s food supply is stable despite the huge logistical challenges posed by the US naval blockade, according to the Tasnim news agency.

Gholamreza Nouri said the country’s strategic reserves are increasing and no emergency withdrawals have been needed so far, adding that domestic production has been ramped up, which has resulted in a decrease in import dependency.

“No foreign restriction or prohibition can put the food security of the people at risk,” Nouri said, adding that the government was working to decrease price rises caused by US sanctions.

The US increased its economic campaign against Iran earlier this week, imposing a package of additional sanctions on the country as Trump struggles to get Tehran to cave to his demands.
Israeli minister posts AI-generated video taunting Palestinian prisoners
Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has shared an AI-generated video on his social media channels that appears to ridicule Palestinian prisoners.

The animated video depicts Ben-Gvir removing icons representing food from above the heads of a group of people in prison uniforms, before they are sent into a prison on what looks like an assembly line. The video ends with the prisoners leaving the facility looking frailer and apparently despondent, with one of them in tears.

Ben-Gvir’s post comes after he earlier shared footage of himself visiting a prison holding Palestinian women in the occupied West Bank, boasting that he is responsible for the harsh conditions they live in.

After one prisoner seen in the footage told the Israeli minister they had not been able to shower in days or receive adequate medical treatment, Ben-Gvir responded: “The good conditions in the prisons are over. This is the current situation, and I am directly responsible for everything. I am pleased with these conditions.”
Yemeni forces claim to have seized Houthi-bound Iranian shipment in Red Sea
Naval forces of Yemen’s internationally-recognised government say they’ve seized a shipment of military components and equipment in the Red Sea, “being supplied by Iran to its Houthi allies”, according to the Yemeni armed forces media centre.

The supplies were captured on August 24 – and subsequent video released of shipment shows components used in the manufacture and development of drones.

Meanwhile, Yemeni forces says they’ve carried out a preemptive strike that destroyed a drone boat being operated by the Houthis in the Red Sea.

The media centre released a video it says shows the drone being being destroyed, “before it could be used to attack vessels”.
