GCC-US summit: Saudi Arabia’s MBS applauds Trump’s lifting of Syria sanctions

Speaking at the GCC-US summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday said he applauds US President Donald Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Syria.
Trump met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Riyadh on Wednesday, a day after announcing the lifting of all sanctions on Syria at the behest of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
GCC countries also affirm their partnership with the US, the Saudi crown prince said.
“We look forward to the continuing work with the US,” he said.
“We are aware of the magnitude of the challenges facing our region and we strive with you and with our GCC brothers to deescalate tensions in the region and to stop the war in Gaza and to find a permanent and comprehensive solution for the Palestinian crisis,” the crown prince said, addressing Trump.
“We stress our support to ending conflicts through peaceful means,” he added.
