Gaza Strip faces telecommunication service outage

Telecommunication services were cut off in the Gaza strip after it was repaired, the Palestinian telecoms company Paltel said in a statement on Monday.

“We regret to announce the complete cessation of the communications and Internet services with the Gaza strip, as the main paths that were previously reconnected were disconnected again,” it said.

Paltel officials said mobile and telephone services across Gaza were severed “due to the cut-off of main fibre routes from the Israeli side,” the Paltel company said.

In early November, Paltel services were disconnected due to the fuel shortage but was later partially restored in the Gaza Strip after the entry of a limited quantity of fuel through UNRWA.

Israel imposed a strict blockade on all goods entering Hamas-controlled Gaza when it launched a military campaign in response to the Palestinian militant group’s Oct. 7 rampage, in which its fighters killed 1,200 people and took 240 hostages.

Gaza health ministry said Israel’s military campaign has killed around 15,900 people so far, most of them women and children.
