Frenchman in Norway gets 25 speeding tickets in 19 days
In what could only truly be described as a strange turn of events, a young Frenchman who recently immigrated to Norway was handed a 21-day prison sentence for committing a shocking 25 speeding violations in only just 19 days.
The 23-year-old man, who had recently moved to the Scandinavian country with hopes of finding employment, found himself instead in the middle of a legal debacle after repeatedly going over the speed limits while behind the wheel of his Kia vehicle between February 6 and February 25.
Media reports reported that the biggest offense took place on February 20, when the reckless driver was caught going at an alarming speed of 113 kilometers per hour in an area where the maximum allowable speed was a mere 70 kilometers per hour.
This lack of care for the traffic regulations caused the Oslo court to label the young Frenchman, referred to only as “E.A.J.”, as a “traffic danger to society”.
The majority of the offenses were detected through fixed automatic radars, without the offender knowing at the time of the violations. Despite receiving a slightly reduced sentence of 21 days in prison owing to his confession, the consequences for his actions also had his driving license revoked for a whole year. One can only hope that year would be all it takes to cause the young man to change the he drives.
