 After his performance at the Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, Will Smith sparked debate across the internet for his “inappropriate act” with fellow artist India Martinez. The steamy performance left many fans shocked as they took to social media and voiced their opinions on the matter.

56-year-old Will Smith and 39-year-old India Martinez recently performed their new single First Love, when both parties leaned in for a kiss. According to The Daily Mail, while still in a relationship, both Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith don’t live together anymore, and have remained separated since 2016.

Despite appearing and supporting each other in events across the timeline in question, the couple shocked fans after announcing their separation in 2023 but confirmed that it was official in 2016.

While some fans criticized Smith for the act, several others took to his defense referencing the controversies Jada Pinkett Smith faced in the past.

A social media user on Musk’s X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote in response to people criticizing Will Smith, “Will Smith was publicly humiliated by Jada for years, she cheated, emasculated him, and aired their dirty laundry for clout.”

They stated further, “Now that he finally shows some masculinity, people are outraged? The real problem is a society that celebrates female disrespect but attacks a man for reclaiming his pride.”

Another added, “This man is an actor and has kissed plenty of women who is [sic] not his wife, he is a paid entertainer this is legit his job.”

Will Smith and India Martinez announced their new single First Love in celebration of Valentine’s Day. They both took to their official social media platforms and showered each other with compliments.

Martinez wrote, “We’re like two children in their first love.” She also added in another post, “how it feels when the chemistry is unmatched.”
