Did Gal Gadot avoid giving No Other Land’s Basel Adra the Oscars award?

Amid Basel Adra’s heartwarming acceptance speech for winning the “Academy Award for Best Documentary” at the Oscars for directing “No Other Land,” a rumor has been circulating across social media claiming that Israeli actress Gal Gadot was set to present the award to Adra, but “coincidentally” avoided it due to the political tensions between the two parties.
According to several sources, Gal Gadot was reportedly set to present the award to Adra. However, by the time of the announcement, Selena Gomez and Samuel L. Jackson took the stage instead.
Rather than presenting the award to Adra, Gal Gadot and fellow actress Rachel Zegler took the stage to present the Best Visual Effects award instead.

By the time of reporting, neither the Academy nor the Israeli actress publicly commented on the matter in question sparking debate and speculation across social media.
On the contrary, a social media user on Musk’s X (formerly known as Twitter) stated, “Apparently the fact that she was gonna present best documentary was a joke and I believed It.”
Another wrote, “No Other Land winning and Gal Gadot mysteriously absent from presenting the award like she was supposed to…oh miss Gadot the coward you are.”
Basel Adra, the Palestinian activist and director of the Oscar-winning documentary “No Other Land,” recently went viral on social media after giving a heartwarming acceptance speech.
Adra took to the Oscars stage and said, “Thank you to the academy for the award it’s such a big honor for the four of us and everybody that supported this documentary.” The Palestinian activist added that about two months ago, he became a father and hopes that his daughter doesn’t live the same life he’s been living due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on Palestine as a whole.
He stated further, “We call on the world to take serious actions to stop the injustice and to stop the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people.” This comes after Gaza suffered a 15-month grueling war against Israel which resulted in the killing of at least 48,000 Palestinians and injuring more than 111,000, according to the health ministry.
Basel Adra’s heartwarming speech echoed across social media as users shared their support for Basel Adra and his team. One social media user wrote on X, “Congratulations! Their 2 minute long speech was enough to destroy Israel’s decade long propaganda.”
Another added, “These guys are better at international relations than everybody in the White House.”
No Other Land is a documentary created by a Palestinian-Israeli collective that showcases the destruction of Masafer Yatta, an area located in the South Hebron Hills of occupied West Bank. It also follows the story of Palestinian activist Basel and Israeli journalist Yuval who develop an unlikely alliance due to Israel’s aggression in the area.
