Cristiano Ronaldo gifts Trump signed jersey with special message

Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo recently went viral after gifting US President Donald Trump a signed football jersey with a special message. 

Trump received the gift on Monday from the President of the European Council António Costa, during the G7 summit in Kananaskis, Canada. The signature featured a heartfelt message that read, “To President Donald J. Trump, playing for peace.”

Costa took to his official X account (formerly known as Twitter) and shared photos of the event to his followers. He wrote, “To President @realdonaldtrump. Playing for peace.  As a team.”

Trump’s official special assistant and communications advisor, Margo Martin also shared the moment with her followers in video format, showcasing Costa gifting Cristiano Ronaldo’s signed jersey to Trump.

In response to receiving the gift, the US President said during the clip, “Oh, I like that. Playing for peace,” and added while holding the jersey up, “That’s great.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has always advocated for peace on his socials, touching on human rights subjects such as the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, and many more.  Users on social media are speculating that his gift to the US President might be linked to the ongoing rising tensions between Israel and Iran.

Trump is attending the G7 Summit in Canada to discuss important issues with fellow leaders and politicians, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and more.
