Constance: If Hollow Knight and Celeste had a baby

Metroidvania lovers are in for a treat after the reveal of an indie game called “Constance.” A 2D hand-drawn platformer that incorporates elements from games such as Hollow Knight and Celeste, while still having a distinctive style going for it.
It features a purple-haired paintbrush-wielding artist who yearns to escape a colorful world bedridden with decay due to her deteriorating mental health, which is a topic Celeste fans are familiar with since it also incorporates a similar theme.

Other than a compelling storyline that would resonate with many individuals, Constance also takes inspiration from Celeste’s excellent and gripping gameplay by using platforming mechanics such as double jumps, the ability to slide against walls, and clinging to airborne objects.
According to its trailer, Constance also features a stunning 2D art style that takes visible inspiration from iconic Metrodivania, Hollow Knight, by incorporating a similar color palette and gameplay elements.
An unexpected but welcome surprise
People interested in Constance can now try the game for free, thanks to developer BTF Games, which launched a demo on Steam ahead of the game’s planned Q4 2025 release date. It’s always nice to see developers offering gamers a demo as both a trial and feedback.
BTF Games is an independent game developer based in Berlin, Germany, best known for titles such as Trüberbrook, The Berlin Apartment, and now Constance. The developer recently took to Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) and announced garnering a whopping 125,000 wishlists on Steam!
Players can try out the demo for free through Steam here.
