Chinese company head eats soap to prove natural ingredients
The leader of popular Chinese cleaning products manufacturer, Hongwei Corporation, recently sparked an online controversy when he ate a bar of their laundry soap during a staff meeting.
The video of the incident went viral on social media and drew strong reactions from users who were unimpressed by his unusual marketing approach.
During the presentation, the president of Hongwei Corporation explained that the laundry soap is made only from natural ingredients including alkali, animal fat, and milk. To prove that the product was safe to consume, he took a bar of soap and chewed on it while claiming that there were no harmful substances in its composition.
He added that the soap enters the body and breaks down fats and oils adding that it doesn’t contain any additives such as talc or the bleaching agent titanium dioxide.
Although Hongwei Corporation is known for its commitment to using edible materials in its products, the president’s approach received harsh criticism from social media users who pointed out that the soap is not meant to be consumed. Some even suggested that the president’s actions were dangerous and could lead to health complications.

The incident highlights the importance of responsible marketing practices and the need to avoid extreme tactics when promoting products. While natural products are becoming increasingly popular among consumers, it is important for companies to ensure that their claims are accurate and not misleading.
Hongwei Corporation has not responded to the controversy surrounding the video, but the incident serves as a reminder of the challenges companies face in a highly competitive market.
