Child swallows eight medical injection needles

A 2-year-old boy’s life was saved by dedicated doctors after he had accidentally swallowed eight injection needles while at play.

The incident unfolded in the rural agricultural area of Taratopo, located approximately 622 kilometers (386 miles) away from the capital city of Lima.

The young boy’s life was thrust into danger as a result of this unexpected and highly unusual event. Fortunately, the quick response of medical professionals, including Dr. Efrain Salazar, played a pivotal role in ensuring his survival.

According to Dr. Salazar, it was during the operation in the operating room that they made the shocking discovery of the metal needles inside the boy’s abdomen.

These needles, initially unidentified, turned out to be the eight injection needles that the child had swallowed while playing.

The situation was undoubtedly a challenging one for the medical team, as foreign objects inside a child’s body can pose significant risks and complications.

The boy’s mother speculated that her child may have accidentally ingested the needles while he was engrossed in play.

Children are known for their curiosity and tendency to explore their surroundings, often putting small objects into their mouths. In this case, it resulted in a potentially life-threatening situation.

Despite the complexity of the surgery and the inherent risks, the medical team successfully removed the needles from the boy’s abdomen.
