Cairo talks yield promising truce progress for Gaza conflict: Al Qahera news

Progress has been made in discussions in Cairo on a Gaza conflict truce and there is agreement on the basic points between all parties involved, Egypt’s Al-Qahera News state-affiliated TV channel said early on Monday, citing a senior Egyptian source.

Just hours prior, Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo to meet with Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel, a statement from Hamas.

Hamas restated its demands outlined in a proposal dated March 14, before a UN Security Council resolution for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was adopted on March 25.

The proposal included several key demands: a lasting ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the repatriation of displaced individuals, and an exchange of Palestinian prisoners for Israeli hostages held in Gaza.

Additionally, it called for urgent relief efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian populace and to initiate the reconstruction of the heavily besieged Gaza Strip.
