Ariana Grande faces backlash from Swifties over Scooter Braun tribute
Fans of Taylor Swift’s brand Ariana Grande has been labeled as an “enemy” after sending a heartfelt message to Scooter Braun.
Fans of Taylor Swift have noticed what they perceive as a betrayal by Ariana Grande, who is receiving abundant accolades for her performance in Wicked.
Following her debut as Glinda in the movie musical, Ariana’s former manager, Scooter Braun, penned a sweet message for her on Instagram. He wrote, alongside a photo of himself with Ariana and her co-star, Cynthia Erivo: “Now to Ari … For over a decade, the unwavering dream of WICKED guided every action we took. And now, after all these years, the world understands why. You were destined for this particular moment. Your talent, dedication, voice, and ability to simultaneously make us laugh and cry are truly remarkable. ARI YOU ARE A MOVIE STAR. And you did that. Congratulations. I am incredibly proud of you, and seeing Hart sing along to Popular made my night. Bravo, bravo, bravo. Everyone go see WICKED!”
The gesture did not go unnoticed by Ariana, who commented, “Thank you, Scooter. What special memories.” Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for your support and for being a part of this.”
The pop artist claimed that Scooter had stolen her music masters, sparking one of the most prominent feuds in the music industry between him and Taylor. Following the selling of her masters without her knowledge or approval, she publicly criticized Scooter and Scott Borchetta, the CEO of Big Machine Records, a music entrepreneur. What followed was a nasty feud that prompted Taylor to embark on a quest to re-record her songs in what is now known as “Taylor’s Versions.”
Swifties who are fiercely protective of Scooter often confront others who refuse to condemn him. More worrisome are Justin Bieber and others who collaborated with him. Under his management, Scooter and Ariana shared a strong friendship, but their relationship has since deteriorated. But her most recent remark gave people reason to believe she isn’t on Team Taylor.
“I feel sick when she pretends to support Taylor; she couldn’t care less.” She’s an enemy,” a fan commented on X, the former Twitter. Someone else added, “That’s a sale.” I will never again listen to her music. In my opinion.
Despite their recent low profile, Taylor and Ariana have never mocked each other. Ariana recently discovered that she and Taylor share the distinction of being the only female artists to have multiple #1 Hot 100 debuts. Her cheerful reply was, “Good company.”
While some Swifties attempted to show support for Ariana, others advised them to leave the discussion. Arianators pointed out, “Why do Swifties think that every artist’s life revolves around Taylor? They are inquiring as to why Ariana stated that Scooter was her manager for nearly her entire career, which is hilarious. She has no involvement in Taylor’s situation.
