An end of an era – Attack on Titan ends after 10 years!
Studio Mappa has finally blessed anime fans of Attack on Titan (also known as Shingeki no Kyojin) with its last 1-hour special under the name of “The Final Chapters: Special 2,” marking the end of a 10-year era and concluding one of the best pieces of media to hit the film industry.
The second special of the finale was released yesterday Nov. 4, 2023, and marked the end of the series. Fans might be disappointed to know that the anime adaptation will follow the manga’s ending which didn’t please many people.
Within these 10 years, the anime adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan witnessed a change in studios from Wit Studio to Mappa which are both excellent studios in their own right.
Fun Fact: Attack on Titan became the fourth most-viewed show in the film industry according to Anime Galaxy Official and the manga sold a whopping 120 million copies under the serialization of Japan’s Kodansha Comics!

At first, the studio change concerned many fans and critics alike since previous anime such as The Seven Deadly Sins adaptation got butchered to death after Studio Deen replaced A-1 Pictures resulting in poor production and horrible pacing.
Despite the studio change, Mappa did not disappoint with its stunning visuals including animation quality and character designs giving justice to the previous production by adding a darker tone to the character designs and setting.
Producer Kensuke Tateishi confirmed the reasoning behind the studio change was to take the anime production further.
Attack on Titan was first released in 2013 and quickly became one of the best anime from that era thanks to the huge production team behind it and its unique storyline. Additionally, the series was even loved by non-anime fans and introduced many people to the Japanese medium!
Remembering the beauty of Attack on Titan’s Music

You can’t mention Attack on Titan without thinking of the visually stunning and iconic openings of the show including “Guren no Yumiya” and “Shinzou wo Sasageyo!” by Linked Horizon.
Moreover, we also have to mention SiM’s “The Rumbling” as we don’t often get metal anime openings making it our favorite opening from Mappa’s adaptation of the show.
The anime’s endings are also as memorable as the openings and loved by many fans such as “Utsukushiki Zankoku na Sekai” by Yoko Hikasa and “Great Escape” by Cinema Staff.
The soundtrack is not to be ignored either because they are as iconic as the openings!
“Attack on Titan” by Hiroyuki Sawano is considered one of the best pieces of music to ever hit an anime show for how epic and empowering it is. But our favorite is definitely “The Reluctant Heroes” by Hiroyuki Sawano.
