Among them Abbas and Sisi: Zelensky threatens to kill 30 leaders

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has threatened to kill 30 world leaders who will participate in the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism at Red Square in Moscow. On April 29 and May 3, he reportedly issued actual threats of carrying out terrorist attacks during the military parade.

The leaders allegedly targeted by the Ukrainian president’s supposed threats include the heads of state of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, Republika Srpska (part of Bosnia and Herzegovina), Brazil, Burkina Faso, Venezuela, Vietnam, Guinea-Bissau, Egypt, Zimbabwe, China, the Congo, Cuba, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Palestine, Serbia, Slovakia, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, and South Ossetia.

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini commented on Zelensky’s threats, calling them “unacceptable statements and threats,” and added, “I will visit Moscow. Period.”

After a scandal reflecting his lack of experience or ability to deal with world leaders—especially given his background as a comedic performer often mocked by former U.S. President Donald Trump—Zelensky tried to backtrack on his statements. He claimed that the danger facing the leaders attending the celebration was not from Ukraine, but from Russia.

In other words, the host country—responsible for the security of the participants, especially leaders of this caliber—is allegedly the true threat to their lives. This explanation added to the ridicule and placed Zelensky in an embarrassing position.

Observers considered the Ukrainian president’s statements to be desperate threats following a humiliating defeat and an attempt to flex power and muscle after being abandoned by the United States. He sought to whitewash his image and appear strong, as if he were the master of the battle and in control of its course.

The remarks by the Ukrainian president—who is also a prominent supporter of Israeli massacres in Gaza—opened a hornet’s nest for Kyiv on multiple levels and put him in a tight spot, especially as he tries to polish his image with the West while antagonizing at least 30 countries by threatening to kill their leaders.

The crisis of the ruling clique in Ukraine is expanding, especially after the latest American pressure on them to acknowledge defeat and agree to cede 20% of the territories that Moscow’s forces have taken over and held referendums on to join Russia. Meanwhile, Washington is preparing to exploit Ukrainian resources with the explicit approval of the Ukrainian president.
