American man, wife killed hours after distress call

A 30-year-old man and his 28-year-old wife were found dead under mysterious condition hours after the former made a distress call to the Uttar Pradesh Police’s emergency response helpline (112), at a village in Amroha district, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred close to their house at Allipur Milak village under the Hasanganj police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday, when they were returning after attending a family function in another village, police said.

The man’s body was found hanging from a “machan” (a raised platform built in an orchard) barely 500 metres from his house, while the semi-naked body of his wife was found lying on the ground a little distance away, a police officer said.The officer said that preliminary investigation pointed at murder, adding they have not ruled out sexual assault on the woman.
