An American employee of the US embassy in Israel has died, an embassy spokesperson said on Monday, without offering any further details.

“We can confirm the death of an American employee of the US Embassy in Jerusalem. We have no further details to share,” the spokesperson said.

The United States confirmed the death adding that the incident is under investigation but that there were no indications of foul play in the death of the American citizen.

State Department Spokesman Mat Miller declined to provide further details due to privacy considerations.

An Israeli police spokesperson was not immediately reachable for comment.
