Acquittal of woman who killed her child and “cooked his body and ate parts of it” in Egypt
An Egyptian court has delivered a verdict of acquittal in a horrifying case that has sent shockwaves through the nation.
The case involved a 37-year-old woman accused of the unthinkable act of killing her own child and consuming parts of the child’s body after cooking it.
An Egyptian court has announced the acquittal of a woman on charges of “killing her child and eating parts of his body after cooking it.” The court has ordered her to be admitted to the Abbasia Mental and Neurological Health Hospital in East Cairo to receive the necessary care, as reported by local media on Saturday.
The verdict of acquittal came after 12 sessions, as the woman was deemed to be suffering from a “mental illness,” according to the “Al-Masry Al-Youm” newspaper.
The Egyptian prosecution had revealed the gruesome details of the crime that occurred months ago in Al-Sharqia governorate, which included the mother slaughtering her 5-year-old child, cooking his body, and eating it.
At the time, the prosecution stated that the mother had confessed to committing the crime, and a team of investigators found evidence confirming the incident.
The grim incident unfolded in April, when the 37-year-old mother faced accusations of committing an unthinkable act of violence.
