A$AP Rocky wins in court: acquitted of felony assault charges

A$AP Rocky wins in court, acquitted of all felony charges.
On Tuesday, February 18, a jury ruled A$AP Rocky not guilty of firing a semi-automatic weapon at A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli during a 2021 battle, leading to his acquittal on all felonious assault charges. This was a stunning development.
Rocky gave his family and fiancée Rihanna a heartfelt, heartbreaking embrace following the verdict at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles. To give his family a hug, the artist leaped over the barricade. According to People, A$AP Rocky exclaimed, “Thank you for saving my life, thank you for making the right decision,” following the reading of the verdict.
Even though a conviction could have resulted in up to 24 years in prison, the 36-year-old rapper had chosen a jury trial over a plea agreement. Rocky’s attorneys contended during the trial that Relli manufactured the accusations in order to obtain money, while the prosecution asserted that Rocky shot the gun on purpose.
Although police did not locate the purported weapon, the court presented security footage that did not clearly depict the incident. It was also challenging for the prosecution since the two bullet shells that Relli produced as evidence lacked fingerprints. To allow Rocky to be handled like any other defendant, the court was asked to disregard Rihanna’s presence.

According to sources, John Lewin, the prosecutor, stated, “I want to make sure that no matter how famous his partner is, or how beautiful their children are, or how much they laugh during closing arguments… he should be treated like any other person, because that is his right at the end of the day.”
Rihanna has frequently appeared in court to support Rocky since the trial started on January 29. She shared her happiness on Instagram following his acquittal, referring to the decision as a “blessing.” Riot and RZA are the couple’s two children.
During closing arguments on February 13, Rihanna brought their two children, Riot Rose, 18 months, and RZA Athleston, 2, to court while she celebrated the verdict on social media. “God alone is exalted! On February 18, she posted on her Instagram story, saying, “I am grateful and humbled by His mercy.”
“DON’T BE DUMB,” Rocky wrote on his X account that same day, seemingly referring to his upcoming album, which was originally supposed to be released in August 2024 but has been postponed.
