Iran actively supporting the Houthis: Report

Iran is supporting Yemen’s Houthis with weapons and training, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

Tehran was actively supplying drones, missiles and radars to the group despite denying any involvement in the country, the report said citing sources, thereby enabling them to launch its latest attacks on the internationally recognized government’s territory and Saudi Arabia.

WSJ reported that Iran was initially using traditional dhow boats to bring in weapons and equipment, adding that it began resorting to submarines as the shipping was interrupted by Israeli and US strikes.

Moreover, it said that information confirmed the presence of members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officers on the ground at the frontlines in Yemen.

Furthermore, WSJ reported that recent tactics used by the group indicated that they received training from Iran, citing military experts.

In addition, the report said that the Houthis were planning further activities beyond Yemen’s borders, including threatening shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb, relying on intelligence.
