Yemeni military says 700 Houthis ‘neutralized’ in 1,250 strikes over 24 hours

Yemen’s armed forces said Thursday they had “neutralized” around 700 Houthi fighters and destroyed or damaged more than 150 military vehicles and pieces of equipment in over 1,250 strikes carried out across multiple fronts over the past 24 hours.

Colonel Majed al-Nuzaily, a spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, said the strikes were conducted as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen, targeting positions and military capabilities belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

The operations involved warplanes, drones, field artillery, rocket launchers and sniper units, he said in a post on X accompanied by footage of the strikes.

According to al-Nuzaily, the strikes targeted Houthi frontline defenses, fortifications, trenches, firing positions, observation and reconnaissance posts, forward command-and-control sites, troop assembly areas and supply routes.

He said the operations had disrupted the militia’s defensive lines, weakened its offensive capabilities and destroyed fortified positions, particularly along the Taiz fronts, where government forces continued to engage Houthi fighters.

Preliminary battlefield assessments indicated that approximately 700 Houthi fighters had been “neutralized,” while more than 150 military vehicles and pieces of combat, transport and logistical equipment had been destroyed or damaged, al-Nuzaily said.

Al-Nuzaily said the strikes had targeted military objectives in accordance with international humanitarian law, with precautions taken to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

He added that Yemen’s armed forces would continue carrying out operations in line with their military plans.

The latest announcement comes as Yemeni government forces intensify their offensive against the Houthis across several fronts, alongside Saudi-led coalition operations targeting the militia’s military infrastructure.
