Discord suffers major data breach leaking 275,000 emails

Discord suffered another major data breach involving a server protection service called Double Counter, which leaked about 275,000 unique email addresses.
According to Have I Been Pwned, the breach compromised data from many users, including email addresses, usernames, names, geographic information, and postcodes for some Nitro subscribers.
The site wrote, “In October 2026, the Discord server protection service Double Counter suffered a data breach attributed to a vulnerability in the Metabase analytics tool. In its disclosure notice, Double Counter advised that attackers gained access to a subset of its data. A corpus of data was subsequently published publicly and contained 275k unique email addresses and Discord usernames. A small number of records belonging to paying subscribers whose purchases were processed via Stripe were also present and included names, countries and postcodes.”

According to an X user, Scrxtchy, Double Counter was a Discord bot that let admins track alt accounts of banned users. The individual also claimed the data would later be published on a website called Doogle, which allows anyone to obtain it at a cost.
Scrxtchy added, “People have been raising the warning signs about this bot for a few years. Unfortunate for everyone affected because there was nothing you could have done if you ever used it.”
This sparked major security concerns among users of Discord, citing that they would never give the platform their government IDs for age verification:
“And they wonder why people complain about showing their government ID bruh.”
“Data leaks reaching Sony levels, and Discord wants our State IDs? Yeah ok.”
“Double counter always been shady af, but people never listened.”
“Again? It feels like this is becoming a weekly event for Discord. I don’t understand who still uses this awful platform with their full consent.”
