Prince Faisal meets US Senate Armed Services and Senate Intel chairmen

Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat held separate meetings with senior US lawmakers on Tuesday during a stop on Capitol Hill.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Senator Tom Cotton, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Senator Roger Wicker, chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Ranking Member Jack Reed was also present during his meeting with Wicker. They discussed bilateral ties, coordination, defense and security cooperation between Washington and Riyadh, according to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

They also touched on the regional situation and efforts to support its security and stability.

“The Chairman appreciated the very thoughtful and comprehensive discussion with Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan,” a spokesman for the Senate Armed Services Committee told Al Arabiya English.

In his meeting with Cotton, the two reviewed the “latest political and security developments,” including ways to bolster bilateral cooperation.

Prince Faisal traveled to Washington after leading the Saudi delegation to the UN General Assembly in New York last week.

On Monday, he met with Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the State Department and separately sat with US ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz.
