Murat Yıldırım and Iman Elbani welcome their second child and reveal name

Murat Yıldırım and Iman Elbani have welcomed a new addition to their family, with the couple becoming parents for the second time and choosing a meaningful name for their baby boy.

The Turkish actor and his Moroccan wife welcomed their son Kerem, according to Turkish entertainment reports published Tuesday. The news comes just weeks after the couple confirmed that they were expecting their second child.

Murat Yıldırım and Elbani, who married in 2016, are already parents to their daughter Miray, who was born on October 8, 2022. The arrival of Kerem now makes the couple a family of four.

The couple had kept Elbani’s second pregnancy largely private. News of the pregnancy only became public earlier this month, when they shared a family photograph and announced the happy news with the words “Good news.” At the time, Turkish reports said Elbani was already nine months pregnant and that the birth was expected within days.

The couple have generally preferred to keep their family life away from the spotlight, making the arrival of their son another particularly personal milestone for them.

Why They Chose the Name Kerem

The couple have named their son Kerem, a name of Arabic origin commonly associated with meanings including generosity, kindness, nobility and grace.

The news was quickly picked up by Turkish entertainment outlets, with congratulations pouring in for the actor and his family.

Yıldırım Balances Fatherhood With a Busy Career

The birth comes at an especially active point in Yıldırım’s career.

The actor is preparing to return to the set of “Güller ve Günahlar” (Roses and Sins), where he plays the lead role. Turkish reports say preparations for the show’s second season are underway, meaning Yıldırım will soon return to filming following the birth of his son.

At the same time, the actor is preparing for an international film appearance.

Murat Yıldırım Heads to TIFF With Eva Green

On September 18, Yıldırım is scheduled to attend the Toronto International Film Festival for “Trees Are Watching,” a psychological horror-thriller directed by Iranian filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi.

Yıldırım stars alongside French actress Eva Green in the film, which was partly filmed in Turkey. The movie follows novelist Darya, played by Green, who returns to her hometown with her deaf daughter and becomes haunted by memories from her childhood.

The film has a scheduled TIFF Lightbox screening in Toronto on September 18, 2026.

For Yıldırım, the coming weeks therefore bring two major milestones at once: welcoming his second child with Iman Elbani and preparing to return to television and the international film scene.

After welcoming Miray in 2022, the couple have now begun a new chapter with their son Kerem.
