Saudi, Omani foreign ministers discuss Yemen developments in Riyadh meeting

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi met his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in Riyadh on Wednesday to discuss recent developments in Yemen.

The discussions focused on the latest developments in Yemen and their repercussions on regional security and stability, the Omani foreign ministry said in a statement.

The ministers also discussed ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and “explored means to bolster the political process to resolve the roots of the conflict and achieve a comprehensive settlement that maintains Yemen’s security and stability.”

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday voiced its disappointment by steps taken by the United Arab Emirates to pressure Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council forces to operate near the Kingdom’s borders.

The UAE denied directing any Yemeni party to carry out military operations that harm Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed its “full respect” to the Kingdom’s sovereignty. It later announced the end of its military presence in Yemen, adding that the decision was made at the UAE’s own discretion.
