Pentagon chief says US strike off coast of Venezuela killed four ‘narco-terrorists’

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said Friday that the US military killed four “narco-terrorists” during a “lethal, kinetic strike” off the coast of Venezuela.

In a post on X, Hegseth said the strike was against a designated terrorist organization but did not elaborate.

No US forces were harmed in the operation, which he said was against a vessel “transporting substantial amounts of narcotics – headed to America to poison our people.”

Hegseth added: “Our intelligence, without a doubt, confirmed that this vessel was trafficking narcotics, the people onboard were narco-terrorists, and they were operating on a known narco-trafficking transit route. These strikes will continue until the attacks on the American people are over!!!!”

On Thursday, a notice was leaked from President Donald Trump to Congress in which he declared that Washington was engaged in “armed conflict” with drug cartels. The notice was sent after one of the first three US strikes against cartels from Venezuela, according to the White House.
