Turkey’s Simsek says there is a risk of economic growth slowdown

Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said on Tuesday that there is a risk of a slowdown in economic growth, and the government would respond to this by supporting employment and investments.

In an interview with broadcaster Haberturk, Simsek said Turkey will support technology and manufacturing investments, while the central bank and Eximbank aim to increase support for exporters.

He added that the current account deficit will be lower than forecasted in the country’s medium-term program.
