Zelensky: Chinese citizens fighting for Russia captured in Donetsk

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, posted a video on his X account reportedly showing a Chinese citizen claiming he was caught in the Donetsk Region.
Zelensky posted the footage claiming that the Ukrainian forces caught two Chinese people fighting for Russia in the Donetsk Region and they were caught with their IDs and bank cards. He also suggested that more Chinese soldiers could be involved in the war for Russia against Kyiv.
He wrote: “Our military has captured two Chinese citizens who were fighting as part of the Russian army. This happened on Ukrainian territory—in the Donetsk region. Identification documents, bank cards, and personal data were found in their possession.”
“We have information suggesting that there are many more Chinese citizens in the occupier’s units than just these two. We are currently verifying all the facts—intelligence, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the relevant units of the Armed Forces are working on it,” the president maintained.
Ukraine’s president also noted that the two captured Chinese citizens are being held in the custody of the Security Service of Ukraine and they will be investigated.
Earlier this year, a South Korean lawmaker said that about 300 North Korean soldiers, who are fighting against Ukraine, were killed and 2,700 others were injured. Seoul previously claimed that North Korean President Kim Jong Un had sent over 10,000 soldiers as “cannon fodder” to help Moscow.
