Trump calls Saudi Arabia a ‘special place with special leaders’

US President Donald Trump highlighted the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute summit on Wednesday, appearing and speaking at the conference backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

“Today is a tremendous honor to become the first American president to address the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute,” he said during remarks at the opening of the summit.

Trump called Saudi Arabia a “special place with special leaders.”

The conference is being held in Miami, Florida from Wednesday until Friday.

Launched in 2017, FII brings together investors, policymakers, government officials and international private sector executives from across the globe.

The event is an extension of the Kingdom’s plans to diversify its oil-dependent economy by bringing together changemakers and discussing partnerships and policies for and in a rapidly evolving landscape.
