Ryan Reynolds mocked Justin Baldoni in ‘Deadpool’ sequel, director’s lawyer claims
Ryan Reynolds ‘s man bun is part of the evidence that Justin Baldoni’s lawyer believes there is “no question” the filmmaker made fun of him in a deleted “Deadpool & Wolverine” scene.
Attorney Bryan Freedman claimed in a Tuesday interview with Megyn Kelly that it was obvious Reynolds was making fun of Baldoni with the scene, which depicts Ryan Reynolds as both Deadpool and a version from an alternate reality called “Nicepool.”
Baldoni’s go-to hairdo until last year was the man bun, which Nicepool sports.
Lively, a variation portrayed by Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively, is described as “gorgeous” by Nicepool, who also remarks that “She just had a baby too, and [you] can’t even tell.”
Nicepool replies, “That’s okay,” when Deadpool claims that Nicepool is not “supposed to say that.” “I would be fighting with you, but my calling is to one day start a podcast that monetizes the women’s movement,” she said, identifying as a feminist.
Lively has accused Baldoni, her director and co-star on “It Ends With Us,” of sexual harassment. She recently sued Baldoni, alleging that he and other actors on the movie harassed her and launched a concerted effort to damage her reputation.
Using the character’s “hair bun,” Freedman assured Kelly that there is “no question [the scene] relates to Justin.” However, he stated that the humorous nature of the clip suggests that the accusations made against Baldoni by Ryan Reynolds and Lively are, at most, exaggerated.
If your wife is experiencing sexual harassment, you don’t make fun of Justin Baldoni. You don’t mock the circumstance. Freedman remarked, “You take it very seriously.” “You bring up the matter, you file HR complaints, and you go through the legal procedure. Don’t make fun of the person through comedy.
The attorney reiterated, “You don’t make fun of someone who is experiencing sexual harassment.” It’s a significant problem.
In addition, Baldoni has filed a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times for a report the publication published regarding Lively’s harassment claim. Additionally, the filmmaker has accused Reynolds of scolding him at a “traumatic” meeting that took place at Ryan Reynolds and Lively’s apartment in New York City in January 2024.
In his interview with Kelly, Freedman said he would sue Lively “into oblivion,” but the reporter would have to “wait and see” the details.
