Timothée Chalamet shocks fans at NYC lookalike contest

Timothée Chalamet surprised attendees at his lower Manhattan lookalike contest on Sunday, prompting police to release a crowd and arrest at least one person.

A swarm of 20-something lads with chiseled jawlines, hazel eyes, and mops of curly hair gathered in New York City’s Washington Square Park on Sunday afternoon to compete in a Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest.

However, around 30 minutes after the event began, the real-life Chalamet made a surprise entrance in the center of the audience.

Chalamet sneaked through the crowd, disguised with a black mask and a baseball cap, before approaching two doppelgangers posing for photographs. When he reached the center, he removed his mask for the big reveal, eliciting shrieks across the park.

YouTube celebrity Anthony Po promoted one of his multiple lookalike contests on flyers across New York. As news spread on social media, hundreds of people RSVPed to the event, which offered the winner $50.

However, authorities ordered the large crowd to leave Washington Square Park minutes after the competition began and before the actor made his appearance, fining organizers $500 for an “unpermitted costume contest.” Police hauled away at least one candidate in handcuffs without providing an explanation.

“It started off as a silly joke, and now it’s turned pandemonium,” said Paige Nguyen, a YouTube creator’s producer.

Most of the wannabe-Chalamets and onlookers moved to a different park.

People questioned the lookalikes on a makeshift platform about their romantic intentions with Kylie Jenner. People believe that Jenner and Chalamet are in a romantic relationship. We also invited them to showcase their French skills and share their ideas for improving the world.

Eventually, the public chose a winner: Miles Mitchell, a Staten Island native and college senior. He wore a purple Willy Wonka suit and flung sweets from a briefcase to hordes of little fans.

“I’m excited but also overwhelmed,” Mitchell remarked. “There were so many excellent lookalikes. It was really a tossup.
