Sydney Sweeney begged SNL writers to joke about her boobs during controversial hosting debut
Sydney Sweeney hosted Saturday Night Live in March, and her appearance gags drew a lot of criticism.
With five seasons under his belt, Bowen Yang has absorbed a wealth of knowledge about SNL. Lorne Michaels, who created and executive produces SNL, is aware that the program is most effective as a “reality show,” according to one of his more recent admissions.
There is a “meta-narrative” that Yang keeps getting entangled in, as he described on the most recent edition of Fly on the Wall, a podcast co-hosted by former SNL cast members Dana Carvey and David Spade. It occurred last month on Watch What Happens Live when he casually brought up an unidentified host who brought tears to the eyes of many cast members. Even more so now that he has probably done it again by leaking information regarding the making of Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney’s hosting debut in March.
The meta-narrative may ensnare me at times, Yang said. OMG, it’s so unfair, it’s so stressful, and it’s totally not what I meant when I get caught up in headlines or pickups every now and then. At least, this had nothing to do with my actions while [Dave] Chappelle was also on stage.
“This is what the show is now,” Yang said, “and I think Lorne has an awareness of it.” However, Michaels does understand, according to Yang. I believe Lorne is aware that it’s a reality program.
This led the topic back to Sweeney’s show, which was criticized for using her body for jokes too much. Actress Sweeney was “an example of a host who came in and understood how she was being consumed and perceived already,” according to Yang, who co-starred with Sweeney in a Hooters bit.
“She entered and pleaded with everyone to make fun of her breasts,” he said. “She was essentially pleading with everyone.”
Sweeney has already said to GQ that she intended to confront people’s perceptions of her. “There are a lot of people who think, ‘Oh, she became famous because she showed her breasts,'” she remarked, clearly laughing along with the joke.
According to Yang, Sweeney quickly put his worries to rest when he asked whether she was okay with making out in a drawing, to which she responded, “Bowen, I’m on Euphoria.”
“However, she additionally mentioned, ‘You’re experiencing the gay man’s ultimate fantasy by ‘having sex’ with me,'” he accentuated. Anyone would be delighted to engage in sexual simulation with her since she is fully aware of her raw sexual power. God, it’s insane.
