Her participation in 2024’s Eurovision caused anger across social media among pro-Palestine activists and users due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, which resulted in the killing of at least 41,206 Palestinians and injuring more than 95,337, by the time of writing this article.

Many fans of Eurovision were also against Israel competing in the singing contest as it’s “not” part of Europe and called the competition “hypocritical” for allowing Israel to compete but not Russia as they called it “Double standards.”

Golan will start basic training on Sep. 19, 2024, and expressed that it’s going to be tough despite having special treatment like having “private showers.” Golan added that she’s “no different” from her peers and that she looks forward to it as they will “have fun and bond” together.

During her performance in Eurovision, Eden Golan naturally received many boos from the audience because of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Hamas announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called “Al-Aqsa Flood” against Israel making it the biggest offensive by the group in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip, captured military bases, and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel while others were seen paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
