Keanu Reeves’ Constantine 2: script is ready, confirms producer
Keanu Reeves’s 2005 cult favorite John Constantine, about a supernatural exorcist, has been in production for what would eventually become a sequel.
One of the producers of Constantine 2 is too terrified to read the screenplay.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has offered updates whenever possible, and director Francis Lawrence, along with other original Constantine cast members (including Tilda Swinton and Rachel Weisz), have mentioned returning for the sequel. While fans eagerly await news on Constantine 2’s status at DC Studios, di Bonaventura provided some facts about the mysterious screenplay.
Before Transformers One came out, ComicBook talked with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, whom we met at San Diego Comic Con, when he stated that the screenplay for Constantine 2 was already in the works. In response to the question of whether he has read the screenplay, Di Bonaventura said that he is too afraid to do so.
It is now in my email, as you are well aware. “You know what? I’m actually too scared to read it,” he said. Please, I really hope it’s excellent. Within the following several days, I will most likely read it. I will start reading it as soon as I get on the plane.
James Gunn’s new DC Universe is sure to include a slew of projects, but whether Constantine 2 makes the cut is anyone’s guess.
Superman, starring David Corenswet as Superman, will be the first film in the relaunched theatrical series next year. Obviously, not every DC film will take place in this superhero world. Recent examples include The Batman: Part II and Joker: Folie a Deux, which depict standalone storylines unrelated to the canon. This is probably where Constantine 2 would land.
Well I’m not sure. Compared to other people, I’m not that invested in it. As a result, I’m uncertain about our current situation,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said in 2023 in response to a question on Constantine 2’s status.
