Prince William earned nearly $31M in 2023, reveals royal report
A recently published royal report states that Prince William collected an enormous amount of almost $31 million in 2023, after his first full year as the Duke of Cornwall.
On Thursday, July 24th, the Duchy of Cornwall released its full annual report, which details the private, public, and charitable spending of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children.
Alistair Martin, the estate’s secretary and record keeper, made the point that under Charles’s leadership the previous year, the property produced a record number.
Despite his disappointment, he is optimistic that there will be little change going forward.
“Income will return to sustained levels; there will be significant increases in costs and a full program of financing reforms,” Alistair stated in his letter included in the paper, adding, “This will not continue, and the 2023/24 surplus will not be at this level.”
William does not get a regular salary since he is a member of the royal family and works. Instead, the duchy covered all of his annual expenses. The excess funds the private lives of William, Kate, and their children, as well as their public and charity endeavors.
King Edward III established the “Duchy of Cornwall” in 1337 to provide support for the future king. Its assets, which total over $1 billion, comprise over 130,000 acres of land spread across 20 counties in England, comprising farms, houses, and woods. Every property has rivers and more.
Despite his enormous wealth, Prince William is still required to pay taxes. The report does not mention the whole amount of tax, however.
